Minutes of the street reps meeting, 2nd October 2007
at the Off Beat Coffee bar

  Meetings attended
  • 28th September at Brighton Town Hall - Southern Water/B & H council liaison group. The works are progressing well - North St on schedule to finish shortly and Sydney Street ahead of schedule due to use of pre chlorinated pipes.
  • Brighton Crime Reduction Partnership. Pat M attended and matters discussed included a change of radio supplier and an increase in the annual fees. NL trader participation has declined.
     
  Correspondence
  • Invitation to NLCA meeting on 8th October at Brighthelm. Guest speaker Tim Nichols, B & H Licensing officer. Peter S to attend.
  • Sacred Music Festival – information passed on to David S as festival seems to be based in New Rd.
  • Letter from David Lepper M.P. re rents and a letter received from NLTA members Ju Ju. David was supporting our views on fair rents and getting professional advice.
     
     
Treasurer’s report
Peter.S. gave David.H’s. prepared report. All going well with £3671.77 in the account and 144 current members.

100% North Laine Launch
Eddie S reported that the bags are on their way by sea. We then had a discussion regarding competitions, (explore Argus, Latest Homes and Southern Counties Radio). Peter S to follow up Tourist information office to find out if they will be selling the bags as well. Suggested stall in Gardner Street on the 20th outside Hell’s Kitchen. Involve website with the competitions- answers to questions. David S. Asked for 100 bags now as he is soon to close for the winter. Agreed and Peter S. to deliver on 3rd October.

  • Soozie Campbell has asked for nominations from NLTA for BID board vacancies.
  • Policing issues in New Road. Peter S to find out date for the Police central area public meeting – (15th October).
  • Suggestions from reps that we invite “inspirational speakers” to future meetings on Business related topics to encourage more attendance .
   
         
         
             
     
The meeting finished at 7pm and Peter thanked Sharon for her hospitality.
