NLTA North Laine Traders Association Membership Benefits
The North Laine Traders Association represents over 100 independent traders in the North Laine area of Brighton. We welcome you as a new business, and invite you to join the association. We believe there are many benefits to becoming a member, many of which are listed below.

Promoting Our Businesses
  • Free listing, photos and link to your business on our comprehensive website (www.northlaine.co.uk) which has over 4,000 unique visitors per month
  • Promotion using social media such as Twitter and Facebook to reach a wider audience
  • Listing on our popular North Laine map (copy enclosed), which is widely distributed and
    stocked by hotels, traders and the Brighton Visitor Information Centre
  • Working with others, such as VisitBrighton, Unique Brighton and Brighton Visitor to identify
    further promotional and marketing opportunities
  • Promoting trading opportunities between members

  • Organising events as part of city-wide initiatives or with a more local theme -
    these encourage new visitors and raise the profile of the area

  • A forum for sharing experiences, best practices and networking with other traders
  • Supporting each other by discussing and resolving issues that affect us all
  • Four open member meetings held per year
  • Individual Street Representatives act as your first point of communication
  • Providing informal advice on rates and rent reviews
  • Providing informal advice on accountancy for small businesses and new traders
  • Trading goods and services between each other
Representing Your Views
  • The "voice" of North Laine businesses, with 100 members and believed to be the largest independent traders' association in the South of England
  • Campaigning to improve local facilities
  • Getting involved with local initiatives to ensure they reflect members' concerns and needs
  • Representing traders in other business groups and partnerships
  • Lobbying the council, police, local MPs and local media
  • Working together to enhance the business environment and ensure that our customers
    have the best possible experience of Brighton's most vibrant shopping district
Getting Deals
  • Looking at ways to use our collective bargaining power with key suppliers to secure
  • better deals for members
  • Agreements already exist with First Data Merchant Services (Re-branded Bank of Scotland Merchant Services) at very preferential rates – far lower than a single independent business could achieve
