Minutes of the street reps meeting, 21st August 2007 at the Off Beat Coffee bar.

Apologies: Colin Grainger, Linda and Phillipa, Andrew Bird.

Meetings attended

NLCA meeting 9th July.
SEEDA/EDF/BHEP, climate change event at the Grand hotel 23rd July. PM and PS attended.
B & H council New Road meeting 21st August. PS and DS attended an update meeting to talk about how the new road system and ancillary works are progressing.

Correspondence

B & H invitation to City In Bloom Prize Event, 31st August at The Thistle Hotel. PS to attend.
B & H Open spaces study. ES to complete for NLTA.
B & H Tourism, Suzanne Mantell is to look into 2/3 sites for maps to be placed in North Laine.
B & H Cityclean letter re trade waste recycling.
Southern Water, Bob Lennard has sent details of work starting in Sydney Street 17.9.07.
Southern Water / B & H invitation to liaison meeting 10am 31.8.07. PS to attend.

Treasurer’s report

DH reported a balance of £4,077 in NL account. Still awaiting Southern Water and Fludes cheques for sponsorship of newsletters - PS to follow up.

100% North Laine Bags

ES and PS passed around samples of the NL bags and a general discussion decided the following;

Two sample bags to be delivered to each member with ordering details.
Launch the bags at the October 10th members meeting with publicity and bags as prizes to the public.
Order 2000 more bags immediately to provide a quantity to sell to the public when launched. (ES to check delivery time but assume delivery by 10th October.) DS to underwrite costs in the event of slow sales.
PS to contact TIC to sell bags on our behalf.

Newsletter

Newsletter 83 to be out third week September. Lead stories to be NL bags and members meeting on 10th October. GE has offered sponsorship on behalf of Brighton Bead shop.

Autumn meeting

Wednesday 10th October was chosen as the date of the next meeting PS to explore using the Regent Street bar of Komedia.
