Treasurers report
David H presented the 2008 end of year balance sheet and gave us an update on the current figures as members pay their 2009 subs. So far this year we have received £630 in Subscriptions and had just over £4,000 in the account at the end of 2008. Reps present agreed to instruct Brian to begin updating the website and place the winning NL videos
( Stella Lennon and Pirate Media ) on the home page. We also had a discussion about adverting and sponsorship of the site and whether Brighton council had plans to make the centre of the city a Wi-Fi area.
A.G.M. 20th Anniversary
As Komedia is not available on the date those present agreed to book the Nelson in Trafalgar Street for the 24th of March from 6 until 8.30 pm and spend £140 on refreshments. We also will book Geoff Mead to give a “North Laine” talk and his fee will be £60. Members and past Chairs of the NLTA will be invited.
Bank of Scotland
See meetings above.
Newsletter
The next newsletter will be out at the beginning of February and Peter showed a proof to those present. It will be in the year planer format and is being sponsored by Colourfast. Due to the work Peter did for the Southern Water Christmas campaign they have sponsored the next (20th anniversary) edition in March.
Southern Water
The work in Bond Street is progressing well and Pat M commented how good they had been. North Road is due to start 2nd February at the Queens Road end and could take up to nine months to complete. Peter will continue to attend liaison meetings.
Any Other Business
  • David S told us that the Max Miller Society are looking for local restaurant premises to place their memorabilia. Suggestions and ideas to David please.
  • Peter has had a very good response to the call for more rent information and will try to collate this over the coming months.
  • Pavilion Gardens Cafe have purchased a “green” elephant for local fund raising purposes and the NLTA agreed to start off donations by giving £20 from funds.
  • Alan McCarthy has announced his retirement from being chief exec of the council and Peter suggested sending our thanks to him for all his support over the past few years. Agreed.
  • Peter was asked to contact the economic unit at the council to find out exactly what measurers had been put into place to support small businesses.
The meeting ended at 7.30 and Sharon thanked everyone for coming.
