Treasurers report
David Hall reported that we currently had £5,068 in the account and had commitments for approximately £2,500. Membership was still coming in although much slower than the beginning of the year. 95 members so far.
Website update
Peter Stocker read a report from Brian which said;
Stats – Q3 2008 = 86,432. Q4 2008 = 80,329. Q1 2009 = 87,023. Q2 2009 82,539. Junes total was 26,510 and the total so far in just over two and a half years since launch has been 528,106. Work is progressing well on the new website and is about 80% complete and should be ready to go live at the end of September, beginning of October. Advertising - there will be a couple of small panels at the bottom left and right of the new site that could be used to run adverts and perhaps help to fund the site – what did we think?
Those present were not overall in favour of general advertising and thought maybe a small amount of NL shops or local council info might be acceptable.
NL map launch
Sharon Thomas distributed copies of the proposed NL map to those present and explained that our designer had not completed the information listing on the reverse side. The map was welcomed and the design complemented. Those present asked for some additions such as public toilets, cash points and indications of direction of the A23 and the Pier. Peter to get additional quote from another printer and Sharon to use the most cost effective way of producing 25,000. Tourist information has agreed to help distribute the maps. Total cost of design and production should come in under £1500.
NCP / NLTA parking deal
Peter explained the 40% off parking deal to our newer members and asked for feedback on how well the deal had worked at a later meeting. It might be possible to have a similar deal over the Christmas period.
City College Business skills
Jean Travis and Marcus Pescod distributed information packs and explained how the City college team can help local businesses.
  • Tourism Futures – funded by SEEDA and producing free retail training.
  • NVQ , Train to gain – Qualifications that help motivate and improve staff.
  • City college courses – fee paying classes on a number of business related topics.
  • City Breakfast Club – networking and informative speakers.
Jean and Marcus can be contacted directly on 01273 667756.
Business Improvement District
Sharon Thomas reminded those present that the BID AGM will now be on the 1st of September and Peter explained why the BID had been set up to the newer members. Many present said they would be attending the AGM.
A.O.B.
  • Colin and Donna announced that Gardner Street would be having a family street party on August 31st from 11am until 8pm.
