Members of the association will by now have received discount parking vouchers for use at the NCP North Road car park. After being in discussion with both the council and NCP over the high cost of parking in North Laine, NCP offered a 40% discount for North Road. The council could not offer us a discount as they are currently renovating their car parks and need the revenue to finance the work. The NCP deal runs from 26th June until the 31st of August with a thought to offering similar deals on the run up to Christmas. More information is on the website - click here

At the recent AGM it was decided to produce the newsletter by e-mail after this issue. It is therefore crucial to let us have your e-mail address when you renew your membership or join up. From September, only NLTA members, Council and local media will receive the newsletters.

As anyone with a business in North Laine cannot have failed to notice, North Road is having new water pipes and gas mains laid. The good news is that the temporary closure of North Road is due to end about mid July. There will be some minor disruption after this time to Kensington Street and Jubilee Street. The three year water main replacement should be finished by August.

Thanks to everyone who supported us at the NLTA 2009 AGM at the Nelson Pub. Our guest speakers, Geoff Ellis and Geoff Mead were both on great form and full minutes of the event can be found on the website.

Peter Stocker, one of the founding members of the association will be giving up the position of coordinator in September when he moves from Brighton. Peter said ” it has been a pleasure and an honour to work with such a great group of traders and to see the NLTA grow to such a professional body”. Donna of Hell’s kitchen and David of Pavilion Gardens Cafe will share the secretary role.
